Bella was diagnosed with Demodex. For those of you that don't know what that is, it's a form of mange. Mange is a skin disease that effects the skin, causing hair loss and extreme issues. Bella will scratch herself to the point where she bleeds.
We took her to the vet when we got home from our honeymoon. We were told by a groomer that her anal glands were impacted so we had to go get them expressed, which is how this all started.
The vet did a skin scrape, and determined she had demodex, almost immediately. So we started a new treatment. Daily medicated baths along with an oral medication.
The oral medication we thought may have been causing her side effects. She walks about all dazed, has muscle pain and lethargy. That has subsided a little bit and she is in better spirits. This morning, I decided to take her to the vet to do a recheck, because her skin started peeling off. It was scabby and falling off, which is a good skin, but wanted to make sure her skin tears were okay....
So I found out today, not only does she have mange, she has a skin infection on top of it. Causing lethargy and enlarged lymph nodes. So we started on a new medicated bath, along with a new dip for the bath, an antibiotic along with the mange treatment. Plus supplements. She is doing better but is now just resting after a bath and dip and antibiotics.
She is now relaxing, not itching and hanging out by the fire. It is day one of day 10 and then a recheck :) lots of prayers and good thoughts for us and Bella :)
